How can DNA evidence be used?

How can DNA evidence be used?
Among other things, DNA evidence can be used to determine migration patterns and family lineage. Evolutionary stable mitochondrial DNA and Y chromosomes have allowed bio-anthropologists to begin to trace human migration patterns around the world and identify family lineages.
