1.  Alexander Eustace,                       2Q       53       Naas                             2          660

Alexander Eustace, son of Thomas Eustace, a farmer and Mary Murphy was born March 8, 1863 in Kilbride Parish, County Wicklow. He died at Golden Hill on 11 June 1915 at about age 53 and is buried at Manor Kilbride Cemetery. He was unmarried in 1901 but may be the Alexander Eustace married in South Dublin in 1913. Alexander’s wife Mary died 23 November 1932 and is buried beside him at Manor Kilbride Cemetery.

2. Andrew Eustace,                            2Q       50        Dublin, North              2          386

Andrew Eustace, son of Patrick and Mary McCaffrey was born Oct. 31, 1866 in Crookradina, Rathcoole, Co. Dublin and grew up on a small farm at Drumroosk, Kinawley, County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. Andrew joined the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC) and was assigned to various places, mostly in the Irish Midlands. One of his first assignments was in the Ballinalee/Clonbroney area of County Longford. There he met and in 1888, married a local girl named Catherine Curran. Andrew continued to serve with the RIC and as a result he and Catherine moved frequently and served in Drumsna, Carrigallen and Johnston’s Bridge all located in County Leitrim. Catherine Curran died April 19, 1915, and the children were "farmed out" to various relatives. Louis and Fred went to stay with their maternal grandmother in Clonbroney, and Andrew Jr. lived in Kinawley with his Aunt Isabel "Bel" Eustace who was married to Daniel Breen. Andrew moved his family to Dublin where he took a job as a policeman. The family lived at 67 Caledon Street, then considered a "poor" area. Later he became a night watchman in the Amiens Street section of Dublin. Andrew Eustace Sr. was buried in Glasnevin Cemetery, Dublin. There is no headstone, but cemetery records verify his burial in Lot P.G. 25. Andrew and Catherine Eustace were the parents of ten children of which seven reached maturity; Patrick, Elizabeth (Lilly), Andrew, Dominic, John (Jack), Louis and Fred. Gretta, Josie and Robert died as infants. Catherine died of tuberculosis Feb. 7, 1909 at Drumsna, leaving Andrew with seven small children. He remarried to Rose McKeon on January 7, 1915, but his second wife soon left Andrew and the children, emigrated to America and was not heard from again.

Anne Eustace nee Lyons, cab man’s wife, age about 40 years, died on 10 April, 1915 at her home at 34 Church Street, Dublin of bronchitis, one month (certified). James Eustace, widower, her husband, was present at her death which was recorded on 13 April 1915, M.S. Walsh, Assistant Registrar.

 

4. Catherine Eustace,             4Q       69        Carlow                        3          282

Catherine Eustace nee McAssey, farmer’s widow, age about 69 years, died on 30 August, 1915 at her home at Castlemore, County Carlow of old age (no medical attendant present). Alicia Aughney, her daughter, was present at her death which was recorded on 26 November 1915.

 

5. Christopher Eustace,                      2Q       84        Edenderry                   3          334

Christopher Eustace, son of Edward of Togher, was born about 1832; and died in 1915 at age 84. He married Catherine Rigney, daughter of John Rigney of Kilduff, in Philipstown District on 26 July 1869. Christopher Eustace was a farmer and lived at Togher and Croghan. Catherine Rigney Eustace was born about 1853. Their children were; Edward Eustace; baptized July 1870 at Rhode; John Eustace; baptized April 1873 at Rhode; Patrick Eustace; baptized February 1875 at Rhode, who died of phthisis at age 23, on 8 Dec. 1898 at Togher; Mary Eustace; baptized March 1877 at Rhode; she married Richard Condron in Feb. 1903 at Tullamore; Anne Eustace; baptized December 1878 at Rhode; died 20 May 1884 of croup; Michael Eustace; baptized May 1881 at Rhode; Catherine Eustace; baptized October 1884 at Rhode; Christopher Eustace; baptized October 1886 at Rhode; Teresa Eustace; baptized February 1889 at Rhode; Joseph Eustace; baptized April 1891 at Rhode; and James Eustace; baptized March 1895 at Rhode.

 

6. Eileen Eustace,                               1Q       0          Galway           4          171

Eileen Eustace was born about 1914 in Galway and died in early 1915.

 

7. John Eustace,

John Eustace, born Dublin, Regimental Number 7928, Corporal, 1st Royal Irish Rifles; killed in action, France on May 9, 1915.

 

8. Kate Eustace,                                 1Q       80        Dublin, South  2          604

Kate Eustace, nurse, age about 80years, died on 16 January, 1915 at the Molyneux Asylum, Leeson Park, Dublin of bronchitis, 1 ½ months and cardiac failure (certified). Florence Brady of 88 Ravelagh Road was present at her death which was recorded on 19 January 1915; M. Mason, Assistant Registrar.

 

8. Mary Eustace,                                1Q       47        Dublin, South  2          678

Mary J. Eustace, of 45 Denzille Street, married, age about 47 years, no occupation listed, died on 2 March, 1915 at the South Dublin Workhouse, Dublin of cardio Renal failure (certified). James Cribbie, occupier of the South Dublin Workhouse was present at her death, which was recorded on 3 March 1915; George A. Stritch, Registrar.

 

9. Mathew Eustace,                            3Q       4          Edenderry                   3          287

Mathew Eustace, child, age about 4 years old, son of a herder, died of tubercular meningitis and exhaustion, certified; on July 20, 1915 at Croghan. Christopher Eustace, of Croghan, father of the deceased, was present at the death which was recorded July 29, 1914 in the Rhode District, Edenderry Union, Kings County.

Note: Mathew Eustace was born about 1911.

 

10. Maureen Josephine Eustace,        4Q       10        Dublin, North              2          376

Maureen Josephine, daughter of Edward Patrick Eustace and Sarah Kavanagh of Nelson Street, Dublin was born September 5, 1905 and died in late 1915 at age ten.

 

11. Michael Eustace,                          3Q       53        Dublin, South              2          411

Michael Eustace, of Manor Kilbride, County Wicklow, a bachelor farmer; age about 53 years of age died 3 September, 1915 after suffering six months from Phthisis pulmonalis. W. Maloney was present at his death which occurred at the Hospice at Harold’s Cross. The death was recorded 4 September 1915, W.F. Hooper, Registrar. Michael Eustace was born about 1862.

 

12. Patrick Eustace,                           4Q       40        Kilrush                        4          181

Patrick Eustace, married and a farmer, died of old age on November 25, 1915 at Breaffa, Kilmihil, County Clare.  His son, John, was present at his death.  The age listed in this index is an error.  According to his death record, Patrick was 82.   Patrick was actually born in 1849 and he was 66 years old at the time of his death.  His headstone reads, “Eustace  In loving memory of Patrick Eustace who died 24 Nov 1915 aged 66.  Erected by his beloved wife and children. RIP.”  Patrick was married to Maria Eustace daughter of Robt. Eustace Sr and Elizabeth Keane.  Patrick and Maria’s children included: Michael born 1874 living in Watertown CT; Bridget born 1874 and died 1880; Catherine born 1876; Maria born 1879 and living in Bridgeport, CT; Richard born 1879 and living in Waterbury, CT; John born 1881 and died 1955 in Kilmihil; Bridget born 1884; Anne born 1885 and Patrick Stephen born 1889 and died 1955 in NY.

13. Thomas Eustace,                          1Q       42        Athlone           3          1

Thomas Eustace, a 42 year old widower, occupation Soldier R.F.A; died 5 January, 1915 at the Military Hospital in Athlone, Westmeath from Bright’s disease and heart failure (20 days, 8 hours), certified. J.W. Wilkinson, Senior sergeant, R.A.M.C, was present at his death which was recorded 5 January 1915; Kate Lyon, Assistant Registrar. Thomas Eustace, son of John Eustace, laborer and Ally Croagh of Greenagh, County Tipperary was born March 10, 1873.

14. William Eustace,                          1Q       37        Athy                3          261
William Eustace, of Cloney, County Kildare, a 37 year old bachelor, occupation labourer, died 11 January, 1915 at the Athy Hospital from pulmonary tuberculosis and exhaustion (1 year), certified. Thomas E. Murphy, occupier, Athy Workhouse was present at his death which was recorded 6 February 1915; James Kilbride, Assistant Registrar. William Eustace was born about 1878.
