Alice Eustace, age about 3 years, a child of a soldier, died 11 December 1917 of Bronchitis, (certified) at 37 Sherard Avenue, North Dublin. Her mother Mary Eustace was present at her death which occurred at home. The death was registered at the Government Registry Office (GRO) on December 11, 1917.

Note: Alice Sarah Eustace, daughter of James Eustace, compositor and Mary Kinsella was born 11 June 1914 at Rotunda Hospital, Dublin.

 

2. Daniel Eustace,                               3Q       55        Kilrush                        4          179

Daniel Eustace, farmer - son of Patrick and Mary Ann Galvin Eustace and husband of Sarah Meade, died “probably” of consumption on August 30, 1917 in Cahermurphy, Kilmihil, County Clare.  His wife Sarah was present at his death.  Headstone transcription:  “EUSTACE In loving memory of Daniel Eustace Cahermurphy who died 30 Aug 1917 age 56 years and his wife Sarah died 6th Jan 1947 age 76 years.  Richard Eustace died 7 Feb 1978.

3. Eleanor Eustace,                            2Q       87        Rathdown                   2          672

Eleanor Eustace, age about 87 years, a spinster, lady of private means, died 11 May 1917 of influenza (5 days duration) and cardiac failure, (certified) at 35 Sydney Avenue, Blackrock, Rathdown Union, County Dublin. M.F. Bourne was present at her death which occurred at 35 Sydney Avenue. The death was registered at the Government Registry Office (GRO) on May 14, 1917; E. FitzPatrick, Assistant Registrar.

Note: Eleanor Jane Eustace, age 81, unmarried, annuitant, was listed in the 1911 census living at house # 35, Sydney Avenue, Blackrock, County Dublin together with two female servants, Bridget Walsh, age 50 and Elizabeth Ellen Farrer, age 38. Eleanor’s religion is listed as Brethren. Eleanor is also listed on the 1901 census in the same house together with Ellen Farra, age 23 and Jane Dohert, age 65.

 

4. Ellen Eustace,                                 1Q       72        Carlow                        3          375

Ellen Eustace, age about 72 years, a spinster, farmer, died 1 January 1917 probably of apoplexy, (no medical attendant) at Myshall, Fenagh & Myshall District, County Carlow. John McClane, nephew was present at her death which occurred at Myshall. The death was registered at the Government Registry Office (GRO) on 12 January, 1917; P. Maher, Assistant Registrar.

Notes: Ellen Eustace, age 65 years, single, occupation farmer, is listed on the 1911 census living at Myshall with Johanna Nolan, age 65 an unmarried female relative. Both listed their religion as Roman Catholic.

 

5. Jane Eustace,                                  1Q       64        Trim                            2          869

Jane Eustace, age about 64 years, a labourer’s widow, died March 15, 1917 of bronchitis, (certified) at Knockshangan, Athboy District, Trim Union, County Meath. J. Eustace, son, was present at her death which occurred at Knockshangan. The death was registered at the Government Registry Office (GRO) on March 19, 1917.

Notes: Jane Eustace, age about 60 years is listed on the 1911 census living at Knockshangan, County Meath with her husband Patrick, age 82, daughter Maggie, age 21, and sons James, 19 and  Mattie, 17. All family members listed their religion as Roman Catholic.

 

6. Susan Eustace,                                4Q       74        Linsaskea                    3          111

Susan Eustace, age about 74 years (actually 72 years according to baptismal record) , spinster, a farmer’s daughter, died 13 September, 1917 at Drumroosk, Derrylin District, Lisnaskea Union, County Fermanagh, of natural causes, 12 months ill (no medical attendant present). Mary K. Eustace, niece of the deceased, was present at her death which occurred at Drumroosk. The death was registered at the Government Registry Office (GRO) on 3 October, 1917; J. Patterson, Interim Registrar.

Notes: Susan Eustace, daughter of Patrick Eustace and Margaret McCaffry was baptized 10 August 1845 at Kinawley, County Fermanagh. Susan Eustace, a farmer, age about 50 years is listed on the 1901 census living at house # 8, Drumroosk, Aghakellymaude DED, County Fermanagh, unmarried and living alone. Her religion is listed as Church of Ireland. Susan Eustace indicated that she could read only and signed the report with an X.

 

7. Patrick Eustace,     Late     40 or   Kilrush            DEC    1930? entry.     46

Patrick Eustace single from Gowerhass died July 19, 1917 in Gowerhass at the age of 40.  He was the son of Simon Eustace and Bridget Crotty of Gowerhass.

8. William Eustace,                            4Q       0          Dublin, North              2          307

William Eustace, a child, age about 2 ½ months, died 14 October, 1917 of acute bronchitis and exhaustion (certified) at Dunsoughly, Finglas and Glasnevin District, Dublin North. Margaret Geraghty was present at his death which Dunsoughly. The death was registered at the Government Registry Office (GRO) on 15 October 1917; D.A. Mahon Jr; Registrar.

 

9. William Patrick Eustace,               3Q       57        Dublin, South              2          396

William Patrick Eustace, a bachelor, age about 57 years, Civil Servant, died 29 July, 1917 of heart failure and intestinal obstruction of 8 days, (certified) at 5 Albert Terrace, Ashfield Road, Rathmines District, Dublin South. Mary F. Eustace, sister, was present at her death which occurred at 5 Albert Terrace, Ashfield Road. The death was registered at the Government Registry Office (GRO) on 3 August 1917; J.  Mason, Assistant Registrar.
