Alexander Anderson Eustace of 8 Belmont Avenue, a widower, age about forty-four years old, died of pyemia (one month) with cardiac failure (certified); on November 23, 1920 at Clonskeagh Hospital, Dublin. Edward Guilfoyle, his brother-in-law, of 34 Heytesbury Street, was present at the death that was recorded November 24, 1920 in Dublin; M. Walters, Registrar.

Note: Alexander Mary Joseph Eustace was baptized at Glasthule, County Dublin (Rathdown District) on March 25, 1876. He was son of Richard Eustace and Teresa Carroll of Bullock, Glasthule District, County Dublin.  One of three baptismal sponsors was a man named Alexander Anderson; the others were James Carroll and Teresa Eustace McDonough. Pyemia is a form of blood poisoning caused by the presence in the blood of pus-producing microorganisms that are carried to various parts of the body, producing multiple abscesses, fever, chill, etc.


2. Charles Eustace,                 1Q       76        Kilrush            4          187

Charles Eustace, a Cahermurphy farmer, son of John Eustace and the husband of Honor Killeen, died of hemiplegia and syncope on February 26, 1920 in Cahermurphy.  His daughter, Bridget Pender, was present at his death.  Headstone transcription : EUSTACE  Sacred to the memory of Charles Eustace of Cahermurphy who died Feb 26, 1920 age 76 years.  May his soul rest in peace.  Erected by his loving wife and son John.  Charles was survived by his wife, Honor and his children : John born 1869; Catherine (Gallager) born 1870; Bridget born and died 1870; Bridget (Pinder) born 1882; Charles born 1871; Cornelius born 1873; Mary born 1875; Michael of Lisroe born 1876; Patrick born 1878; Mary (O’Donoughue) born 1880; Bridget born 1882; Daniel born 1884.

3. Eileen Eustace,                               3Q       7          Dublin, North              2          332

Eileen Eustace, age about seven years, died of acute meningitis (certified); on August 25, 1920 at 7 Leo Avenue, Dublin. Francis Eustace, (no relationship stated) of 7 Leo Avenue, was present at the death that was recorded August 26, 1920 at District North City, West, Dublin Union, County and City of Dublin.

Note: Eileen Eustace, daughter of Francis Eustace and ______ was born about 1913.

4. Ellen Eustace,                                 1Q       53        Waterford                   4          464

Ellen Eustace, a sailor’s widow, age about 53 years, died at 10 Lady Lane of cancer (liver), six months, and exhaustion, (certified); on March 15, 1920. Patrick Lanigan, her son-in-law of 1 Graces Lane, was present at the death that was recorded March 15, 1920 at Waterford District No. 1, Waterford Union, County Waterford; E.W. Carthy, Registrar.

Note: Ellen Eustace was born about 1867.

5. John Joseph Eustace,                     3Q       0          Dublin, North              2          329

John Joseph Eustace, a laborer’s son, age about three and one-half months, died of acute gastritis (one month), and convulsions, (certified); on August 6, 1920 at 22 Temple Street, Dublin. W. Eustace, his father, of 22 South Temple Street, was present at the death that was recorded August 10, 1920 at District North City West, Dublin Union, County and City of Dublin.

Note: Joseph Eustace, son of William Eustace and Rosanna Fortune was born April 23, 1920 at Rotunda Hospital, Dublin. At the time of the birth William Eustace, laborer and his wife Rosanna lived at 22 Temple Street, Dublin.

6. John Thomas Eustace,                   2Q       0          Dublin, North              2          355

John Thomas Eustace, a carter’s son, age about eight months, died of double bronchial pneumonia, eight days, convulsions and cardiac failure, (certified); on April 6, 1920 at 8 Church Avenue, North Wall, Dublin. Patrick Eustace, his father, of 8 Church Avenue, North Wall, was present at the death that was recorded April 13, 1920 at District No. 1, East, Dublin Union, County and City of Dublin.

Note: John Thomas Eustace, son of Patrick Eustace and Catherine Conway was born July 21, 1919.

7. Mary Eustace,                                1Q       66        Enniscorthy                4          363

Mary Eustace, farmer’s widow, age about 66 years old, farmer, died of pneumonia, (certified); on January 19, 1920 at Greenane. Annie Bernie of Island Road, Enniscorthy, daughter, was present at the death which was recorded January 26, 1920 in the Kilane District, Enniscorthy Union, County Wexford; M.W. Kelly, Registrar.

Note: Mary Delany, daughter of William Delany, deceased, married Alexander Eustace, a farmer (son of Edward Eustace, farmer (dead) on November 9, 1874 at the Roman Catholic Chapel of Ballindaggin, County Wexford. Annie Eustace married John Bernie, a laborer(son of Patrick Bernie, laborer) from Enniscorthy, County Wexford on June 2, 1910 at the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Enniscorthy.

8. Peter Eustace,                                 1Q       65        Drogheda                    2          305

Peter Eustace died at Drogheda in 1920 at age 65. He was born in 1854 at Drogheda and was the son of James Eustace and Mary Dunn. Peter married Anne Downes on Sept 17, 1874 at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in the west ward of Drogheda. Anne Downes was from a family that had a well-established decorating business in Drogheda. Peter became a decorator and continued to expand the family business. He and Anne had a large family of fifteen children of which 12 survived.

Peter Eustace, a laborer and ex-soldier, age about 26 years, died of pulmonary tuberculosis and cardiac failure (certified); on October 31, 1920 in Wicklow. Patrick (his X mark) Eustace, his father, of Wicklow, was present at the death that was recorded November 4, 1920 at District Wicklow, Rathdrum Union, County Wicklow.

Note: Peter Eustace, son of Patrick Eustace and Bridget Slye, was born at Ardistan, County Carlow on June 29, 1891.

10. Sarah Eustace,                              4Q       83        Gorey                          2          549

Sarah Eustace, a widowed laundress, age about 83 years, died of senility, (certified); on December 9, 1920 at Ballinatray. John Lawler of Ballinatray was present at the death that was recorded December 13, 1920.

Note: Sarah Eustace was born about 1837. Sarah Byrne of Tomsilla, was the daughter of John Byrne, blacksmith. She married Edward Eustace, fisherman, of Ballymoney, County Wexford on February 2, 1868, at Riverchapel. The 1901 Census of Ireland shows Sarah Eustace, a widowed laundrees, age 60 living at house 1 in Kilbride (Courtown, Wexford together with John Lawler, age 30, son-in-law, Mary Lawler, age 27 , daughter and Cathrine Lawler age 5, granddaughter. The 1911 Census of Ireland shows Sarah Eustace, a widowed laundress, age 72, living at house 1 in Kilbride (Courtown, Wexford) Also in the home were Mary Lawler, age 36, Sarah’s daughter and grandchildren Catherine Lawler, age 14 and John Lawler, age 9. All family members were Roman Catholic and able to read and write. Mary Eustace, daughter of Edward Eustace, servant, married John Lawler, son of John Lawler, servant (deceased), on May 3, 1896 at Riverchapel, Gorey District. The townlands of Ballinatray Lower and Ballintray Upper are in Gorey, County Wexford.

 

11. Thomas Eustace,                          3Q       5          Waterford                   4          421

Thomas Eustace, a laborer’s son, age about five years old, died of scarlatina (three days), and convulsions, (certified); on August 17, 1920 at 11 Alexander Street, Waterford. Annie Eustace, his mother, of 11 Alexander Street, Waterford was present at the death that was recorded August 19, 1920 at Waterford District No. 1, Urban, Union and county of Waterford

Note: Thomas Eustace, son of Joseph Eustace and Anne Flynn (late O’Loughlin) of Bank Lane, Waterford, was born August 10, 1915. Joseph Eustace, a groom of Bolton Street, Waterford, son of John Eustace, bookbinder, married Annie O’Loughlin (formerly Flynn), a widow (no occupation listed) at the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Waterford on January 10, 1907.

12. William Eustace,                          2Q       0          Dublin, South              2          550

William Eustace, a car man’s son, age about eleven months, died of measles and bronchial pneumonia, (certified); on April 19, 1920 at 20 Upper Bridge Street. Mary Eustace, his mother of 20 Upper Bridge Street, Dublin, was present at the death that was recorded April 19, 1920 at District No. 2, South City, Dublin Union, County and City of Dublin; P.E. Harrison, Assistant Registrar.

Note: William, son of _____Eustace and Mary _____ was born about May 1919.
