Catherine "Kate" Garrity was born
in 1858 in New York. Catherine was the daughter of
Patrick
and Catherine Glinnan of Shrule Parish in County
Longford, Ireland. The Garritys came to the United States
about 1847, where they joined other Irish Catholic
families at Victory, Saratoga County, New York. Patrick soon
established a grist mill at the base of the dam on the Fish
River which flows between Schuylerville and Victory Mills. He
operated the mill for many years. The Garrity family lived at
Smithville (Victory Mills), New York. Catherine Garrity married
Thomas Nacy Sr; on _________at _________.Catherine died in
1920 and was buried at Visitation Cemetery, Schuylerville, New
York. They were the parents of Thomas Jr; Mary "Mayme", Mathew,
Sylvester, Margaret "Rita", Charles and Harry. Thomas
Nacy was a widower with four small sons when he married
Catherine Garrity. His first wife was Elizabeth Morin (Moran).
