Eustace Family of Kineagh, County Kildare
Kineagh Kineagh, although located just west of Castlemartin, it did not form part of the original estate. In1534, however, it was owned by an Oliver Eustace of Kineagh and of Liscartan, Co. Meath, who also held some land near Naas. He married Olivia Barnewall and died in 1535, being succeeded by his grandson Robert Eustace, born 1531. (Oliver's son was John, and his daughter, Alice married William Fleming of Derrypatrick, grandson of 12th Baron of Slane.) Robert married Esmay Sutton and had an eldest son John Eustace, who died in 1596 and was succeeded by his grandson Christopher Eustace, listed as an important man in the county. By 1684 the estate had passed to Colonel Sir Maurice Eustace of Castlemartin from whom it passed, on forfeiture, to Thomas Keightly. The chapel of St Canice, Kineagh, was one of the five chapels annexed to Old Kilcullen as early as 1504. These pages © Ronald Eustice, 2007
