Edward Joseph Eustace
was born 26 April 1869
at Bunbosna, Parish of Multyfarnham, County Westmeath.
He emigrated to the United States at the age of
24 years, arriving at Ellis Island on April 25, 1894 on board the S.S.
Teutonic which departed from Liverpool and
Queenstown (Cobh). Six
years later he returned to Ireland
to bring his sister 'Kate'
(i.e. Catherine Eustace) to America.
They left from Queenstown aboard SS. Lucania on
9 Sep 1900, and
arrived at Ellis Island on September
15, 1900. The destination for both Edward and
Catherine is listed as 127 Day St., New
Haven, CT.
The 1900 census lists Edward’s occupation as "hostler"
but the ship passenger list describes him as a "laborer."
Edward married Ellen Frances Goggin, June 18, 1902 at St. Mary’s Church,
New Haven, Connecticut. He died in 1951 at New Haven, Connecticut.

Ellen (Nellie) Goggin was born at Cahirciveen, County
Kerry on18 March 1873 and
came to the USA
about 1896. She was the daughter of John Goggin
and Margaret Kelly. (Source of info. = IGI
Batch C702482 Call # 0255882.) Ellen Goggin
arrived at Ellis Island-New
York City on June 1, 1893
aboard the SS Servia which departed from
Queenstown (Cobh).
The manifest lists her age as 20 years old. Ellen's
destination listed on the ship manifest was "New
Haven, Connecticut".
Edward
became a naturalized US
citizen in New Haven, Connecticut
on 26 October 1900.
He and Ellen (also called Nellie and Helen) were long time residents at
three-story house at 556 Winthrop Ave., New Haven, CT. Edward died 2
December 1951 in New Haven, CT and is buried with his wife at St.
Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven, Connecticut.
