Remillard Family of Bellechasse County, Quebec

GENERATION I

Guillaume Rémillard (ROUMIHAT) of Chateauponsac, Diocese of Limoges, Limousin, France married Marie Testard during the early to mid 1640s. At the time of the marriage, Marie Testard was a resident of Chateau-Joinsard, Province of Limousin, France. (Tanguay, Cyprien, Dictionnaire Genealogique des Familles Canadiennes, Book I, Page 512). Guillaume and Marie had at least one child;

1. Francois Rouillard also Roumihat and Rémillard, born 1645 probably at Chateau Ponsac, Province of Limousin.

GENERATION II

Francois² Rouillard; Guillaume¹; (Guillaume ROUMIHAT and Marie TESTARD or TETARD); Francois was baptized 24 November 1647 at Chateau-Ponsac, Bellac, Limoges, France (Jette, Page 973) and died 4 April and was buried 5 April 1700 at LaDurantaye, Quebec. He married Anne Gaboury, daughter of Louis Gabury and Nicole Souillard on 7 May 1681 at L’Islet. Nicole Souillard, mother of Anne Gaboury, was a “Filles du Roi”, one of approximately 1000 young women brought to New France as a plan to populate the colony. Anne was baptized on July 27, 1668 at Ste. Famille Parish, Ile d’Orleans, Quebec. Francois died on 4 April 1700 at St. Michel de Bellechasse. Anne Gaboury, widow of Francois Remillard then married (2) Pierre Corriveau at St. Michel on 6 February 1702. Anne Gaboury died in 1740.

Francois Remillard and Anne Gaboury had five children of which we have record of four;

1. Marie-Francoise, born 1692; married (1) 10 November 1709; Guillaume Corriveau ; married (2) 3 May 1719 to Ignace Querignon at St.Valier ; married (3) on 11 November 1727 to Hilaire Martin; she was buried 28 September 1767.

2. Francois Rémillard, born 12 May 1694; married Francoise Helie dit Breton on 6 February 1720 at St. Valier.

3. Antoine Rémillard, born 30 March and baptized 1 April 1698 at St-Michel-de-Bellechasse, Quebec; married to Marie-Marguerite Lemarie on 6 June 1728 at Quebec City; buried 31 October 1757 at St. Valier;

4. Etienne Rémillard (Rouillard), baptized 5 April 1700; buried 9 June 1756 at St. Valier; married Marie-Anne Bolduc at Quebec on 29 July 1725.
