Eustace Families of Tubberclaire, Tubber & Rosemount, Westmeath

Compiled by Ronald F. Eustice

Records show Eustace families living in Tubberclaire, Tubber and Rosemount near Athlone on the borders with Longford and Roscommon. While some of these families may be closely related or connected with namesakes elsewhere in Westmeath, Longford, Offaly or Roscommon, the lack of earlier records makes a positive connection difficult and speculative.

Clonmellon & Delvin Multyfarnham Kinnegad Tubberclaire & Rosemount

Patrick Eustace and Mary Egan of Tubber and Rosemount:

Patrick Eustace and Mary Egan were married before 1830 and lived in the Parish of Tubber and Rosemount. The village of Rosemount is situated about 8 km north east of Moate in the southern part of County Westmeath. Patrick and Mary (Egan) Eustace were the parents of at least one child;

·         John; baptized 13 June 1830 at Tubber and Rosemount; sponsors were Edward Byrne and Bridget (last name not recorded).

John Eustace and Honor Cunningham of Tubberclaire:

John Eustace married Honor Cunningham on 1st March 1835 at Tubberclaire, Westmeath. The sponsors at the wedding were Patrick Malone and Ann Kenny. Tubberclaire is a small village situated in rural County Westmeath, 9 km (6 mi) from Athlone, and 2 km (1.2 mi) north of Glassan near the Longford border a few miles south of Ballymahon, Shrule Parish. This suggests a possible connection with Eustace families in Shrule and Collum Parishes in County Longford; (Note that Patrick Eustace married Catherine Cunningham of Collum, County Longford during the 1820's). John Eustace and Honor Cunningham had at least one child;

·         Luke; born 23 January 1836 at Tubberclaire; sponsors Patrick Kenny and Ellen Clarke.
