William Eustice was born October 10, 1876, and died March 7, 1952 in Waseca County. He married Mary E. Wheelock (Luman C. Wheelock and Catherine Sutton) June 7, 1897 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Waseca, Minnesota.William Frederick Eustice was born October 10, 1876 in rural Janesville, Waseca County, Minnesota. He was the son of John Eustice of Ballymahon, County Longford and Annie Jewison of Yorkshire, England. He received his education in Janesville schools and grew to manhood in that community.
William Eustice married Mary E. Wheelock on June 7, 1897 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waseca, in a ceremony performed by Father J.J. Treanor. They were the parents of the following children; William Jr.
(died young); Evelyn, married George Benda; Ellen, married Karl Holz; Ann, married Roy Durenberger; Amelda, married Alvin Steams; Leone, married Venzel Peterson; John Eustice, married Doris Gumo; Fred Eustice, married Mabel Oerline and Joseph Eustice, married Marie Bartelt.
William learned the butter making trade and during the late 1890s and early 1900s, worked as a buttermaker at creameries in southern Minnesota villages including Alma City, Janesville and Palmer (Waseca County), Iona and Petersburg (Jackson County) and Madelia (Watonwan County). For many decades Minnesota ranked second behind Wisconsin in the number of dairy cows and consistently led the nation in butter production. Later he worked as a Southern Minnesota sales representative for Union Carbide Company, Cleveland, Ohio.
Mary Wheelock was bom July 17, 1870 in rural Waseca County. She was the daughter of Luman C. Wheelock and Catherine Sutton. She worked as a rural school teacher for several years before her marriage. While she could always find employment as a school teacher, she had a full time job raising nine children.
William Eustice died March 7, 1952 at the St. James, (Minnesota) Hospital. He had been in failing health the previous two years, records show his death was attributed to infirmities of old age.
Mary Wheelock Eustice died December 21, 1953 at Redwood Falls, Minnesota. William and Mary Eustice are both buried at St. Ann's Cemetery, Janesville, Minnesota.
Children Of William Eustice and Mary Wheelock:
1). Evelyn Eustice, was born October 21, 1900 at Janesville, Waseca County, MN; and married George Benda. (Frank Benda and Catherine Hyeck) on August 20, 1918 at Iona Lake, Jackson County, MN.
2). Leone Eustice; born. 1904; married Venzel Peterson on June 28,1937 at LeSueur, MN.
3). Ann Eustice, born August 8,1905 at Janesville, Mn. She married Roy Durenberger on October 3, 1927. She died March 18,1967 at San Juan Capistrano, California.
4). Ellen Eustice, born May 14.1907 at Palmer, Waseca County, Mn. and married Karl Holz on February 11,1927 at Minneapolis, Mn. She died June 1, 1975 at Redwood Falls, Mn.
5). Frederick Thomas Eustice, was born December 19,1908 in Alma City, a village in rural Waseca County, Mn. He married Mabel Oerlline, (William and Catherine Oerlline) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca on October 18, 1933.
6).Amelda Catherine Eustice, born April 2.1899 at Janesville, Mn. and married Alvin Stearns. on August 20, 1917 at the Basilica of St. Mary, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Mn.; Amelda died December 30, 1964 at Los Angeles, California and is buried in Resurrection Cemetery at San Gabriel.
7). Joseph Alexander Eustice, born April 21, 1911 in Janesville, Mn.; He married Marie Bartelt (William Frederick Bartelt and Amelia Prail) on May 5, 1930 at Owatonna, Steele County, Minnesota. Joseph Eustice died December 27, 1993 at Waseca, Mn.
8). John Eustice, born May 25, 1913 at Petersburg, Jackson County, Mn. He married Doris Gumo, (John Gumo and Karen Berg) on May 5,1935. John Eustice died in Omaha, Nebraska on March 4, 1969 and is buried there.
